About

Thanks for looking at my blog, here I plan to publish general climbing and cycling articles alongside popular Earth Science content. I aim to produce short, picture heavy posts on the things I enjoy and want to share, particularly focusing on making Earth Science accessible to a wider audience.

I am currently a PhD candidate in the Earth Science department at Durham in the UK, and my profile can be found here. My research interests include; global tectonics, structural geology, igneous petrology and petroleum geology. Before this I worked at an outdoor education centre in North Yorkshire, and before that I was doing my undergraduate degree in Geology.

  2. Hi Alex… Just wanted to pass on my thanks for stopping by to check out my blog and for being brave enough to ‘Follow’ it 🙂 I do wonder how you stumbled across it though? I admit, it’s all a bit new still, but I hope you liked what you read so far, as much as I have writing. Looking forward to seeing more from you too. Uncle Spike

  3. Thanks for your visit to our blog. The Curtain is one of the very few ice climbs I did with Glasgow Uni friends. Good luck with the Phd and I look forward to reading more of your interesting posts. Sally

    1. Hey Sally, Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog. I really enjoyed the Curtain, we were really lucky to get it in such good conditions, the day after we did it the wind was too bad to get anywhere near it! Northumberland is an amazing place, I did a brief post a while back about the Whin Sill but I need to write more on the area!
